Hundreds of children, students and teachers from Kazanlak experience hydrogen transport for the first time
CC HITMOBIL with an inspiring demonstration of a hydrogen electric vehicle
On May 7, during the Open Day of the Vocational High School of Transport and Transport Management in Kazanlak, more than 360 children, students and teachers learned about the potential of hydrogen technologies and their application in sustainable transport. The event was organized by Institute of Electrochemistry and Energy Systems at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences under the Green Skills for Hydrogen project, with the support of Center of Competence HITMOBIL.
The demonstration hydrogen electric vehicle of Center of Competence HITMOBIL, presented by Assoc. Prof. Blagoy Burdin, sparked great interest and excitement among visiting groups from the kindergartens “Zdravec”, “Zvanche”, “Mecho Puh”, “Pchelitsa”, “Roza” and “Yuri Gagarin”. For many of the children, this was their first encounter with a hydrogen-powered vehicle and an opportunity to learn that hydrogen energy can be used for clean and quiet transportation.
Тhe students and teachers from the Vocational High School of Transport and Transport Management participated in the educational program. They attended a seminar for secondary school students, delivered by Assoc. Prof. Blagoy Burdin from the IEES-BAS and Mr. Dobril Prodanov from Bul Air Ltd. The seminar introduced the operating principles of hydrogen fuel cells, the advantages of hydrogen-powered transport, and the future prospects of hydrogen technologies, including their application in aviation.
Following the seminar, participants had the opportunity to explore the demonstration hydrogen electric vehicle developed by the Center of Competence HITMOBIL and learn more about its technical features and design.
In the afternoon, Assoc. Prof. Blagoy Burdin also conducted hydrogen electric vehicle demonstrations for more than 100 middle school students from “Georgi Kirkov” Primary School, “Kulata” Primary School, “St. Paisii Hilendarski” Primary School, “Chudomir” Primary School and “Exarch Antim I” Secondary School.

The initiative is part of the ongoing efforts of the Green Skills for Hydrogen project and Center of Competence HITMOBIL to raise awareness among young people about the growing need for qualified professionals with knowledge and skills related to green energy and sustainable technologies.
