Joint Innovation Center - BAS

The Joint Innovation Center - BAS (JIC) is a specialized academic unit for mediation in the fields of innovations, patents and project competence. Created 2005 and transformed 2010.

Its administrative structure includes an executive director, deputy director, accountant, senior experts in “Applied studies and innovations in energy efficiency and eco-technologies” and “International relations and business connections” and a patent office with two experts.

According to the Regulations of the constitution and activities of JIC the main fields of activity are: „Transfer of scientific results with applied value and technologies elaborated by staff of BAS with the aim of their realization for the benefit of the society” and “Stimulation of scientific cooperation between scientific units and business, consulting and implementation of transfer to the market and realization of knowledge, technologies and services.“

The Center provides information for application to the European Structural Funds and Framework programs and assists in the preparation and execution of proposals. Establishes business contacts in the country and abroad in the field of innovations and transfer of applied study, assists in establishing working relations “science – business” and “science-science”. JIC collaborates with the institutes and laboratories of BAS, universities, Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Bulgarian Industrial Association and NGO.

JIC is a partner in the Enterprise Europe Network – the world’s biggest information and consulting network, assisting business and science in developing their innovation potential. One of the main activities of JIC is finding and promoting research and technology elaborations and offering them in a world electronic exchange. JIC is a co-founder of the Office for Transfer of Technology.
