Institute of Engineering Thermodynamics – German Aerospace Center

The Institute of engineering thermodynamics in Stuttgart and the German Space Center (DLR) performs investigations of efficient systems for storage of energy from natural resources and new generation technologies of energy storage.

The department of Electrochemical energy technologies with a staff of 60 works on technologies for efficient electrochemical storage, namely electrolyzers, fuel cells and innovative batteries.

Specific scientific and applied activities with direct impact on the purpose and future action of CC HITMOBIL are:

  • Fuel cells and electrolyzers with polymer electrolyte;
  • Solid oxide Fuel cells and electrolyzers;
  • Innovative lithium batteries, including lithium-air and lithium-sulfur and study of their mechanisms of degradation;
  • In-situ and ex-situ analysis of electrolytical cells;
  • Integral systems for application in space and electrical vehicle industries.
