HITMOBIL Centre of Competence Presented Innovative Hydrogen Technologies at Science for Business 6 Forum 2026
The President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Iliyana Yotova, learned about the Centre’s latest developments
The HITMOBIL Centre of Competence once again participated in the Science for Business Forum, organized by the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency. The sixth edition of the event took place on 16 June 2026 at Inter Expo Center in Sofia and brought together representatives of academia, industry, and public institutions to showcase innovative technologies, scientific achievements, and successful models of cooperation between science and business.
Following the official opening, the exhibition stand of the HITMOBIL Centre of Competence and the Institute of Electrochemistry and Energy Systems (IEES-BAS) was visited by the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Iliyana Yotova, who showed keen interest in the Centre’s research achievements and technological developments.
At the stand, Mr. Yordan Iliev presented the advanced development Electrolyser Pulse Management System. The system enables operation in both linear and pulse modes through a PLC controller and provides precise control, monitoring, and automatic recording of operating parameters. Its design ensures reliability, high functionality, and flexibility, making it suitable for research and experimental applications in electrolysis processes and hydrogen production.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Galin Borisov presented, through a brief lecture and demonstration, the development of Zero-Gap Hydrogen Generator in a Packaged Design, implemented using the research infrastructure of the HITMOBIL Centre of Competence. The electrolyser system features a compact design, high energy and Faradaic efficiency, and reduced electrical losses. A modular electrochemical converter comprising 6–12 diaphragm-separator electrode stacks has been developed, together with an integrated control, monitoring, and cooling system ensuring reliable and safe operation.
Forum participants also showed considerable interest in the hydrogen-powered electric vehicle demonstrated by Assoc. Prof. Dr Blagoy Burdin. During the exhibition, the opportunities for collaboration with industry were actively promoted, together with the services provided by Field Laboratory 6 “Integrated Energy Systems” of the HITMOBIL Centre of Competence in the fields of hydrogen technologies and sustainable mobility.
Participation in the Science for Business 6 Forum once again confirmed the commitment of the HITMOBIL Centre of Competence to presenting its scientific achievements to industry, fostering technology transfer, and expanding partnerships between academia and business.
