Spanish Educators Explore the Research Infrastructure and Educational Opportunities of CoC HITMOBIL
A visit by representatives of HETEL and B Education laid the groundwork for future cooperation in vocational education and international mobility.
On 20 May 2026, as part of their visit to the Institute of Electrochemistry and Energy Systems "Acad. Evgeni Budevski" at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (IEES-BAS), a group of educators from Spain visited the laboratories of the HITMOBIL Competence Centre. The guests represented HETEL, an association of vocational education and training centres in the Basque Country, which works in close partnership with industry and research organisations to enhance the quality of vocational training for young people.
The visit was organised with the support of B Education, a Sofia-based organisation specialising in international education and mobility programmes and coordinating Erasmus+ placements for school students, university students and young professionals. As part of this collaboration, a Spanish student is currently undertaking a three-month internship at IEES-BAS.
During the meeting, Mr Borja Sancho from B Education presented the organisation’s activities and the opportunities available through international mobility programmes. The HETEL representatives shared their extensive experience in vocational education and workforce development for modern industry.
Prof. Dr Viktor Boev, Deputy Director of IEES-BAS, introduced the institute’s main research areas and highlighted its achievements in the development of innovative technologies in the fields of energy systems, electrochemistry, hydrogen technologies and sustainable mobility.

Particular interest was shown in the newly established laboratories of the HITMOBIL Competence Centre, where the visitors learned about the state-of-the-art research infrastructure, advanced equipment and ongoing scientific projects. The Centre’s opportunities for training, hands-on learning and participation in research activities by young professionals and trainees involved in international programmes were also presented.
The meeting also explored prospects for expanding cooperation between the organisations and creating new opportunities for vocational training and practical internships for students and young people from Spain in Bulgaria.
