Laboratory test system for RES

CC "HITMOBIL" with newlyintroduced laboratory test system for the study of production and energy storage from renewable energy sources (RES)

Center of Competence "HITMOBIL - Technologies and Systems for Generation, Storage and Utilization of Clean Energy" reports the commissioning of the newly built laboratory test system for the study of production and energy storage from renewable energy sources (RES). as the most significant project event for 2022.

Solar panels with a total power of 2000 W and a wind generator with a nominal power of 350 W produce electric power for the system.

The energy is stored in conventional batteries and/or in a separate hydrogen module consisting of:

  • Hydrogen generator with a capacity of 198 Nl/h;
  • Metal hydride containers for storing hydrogen with a nominal pressure of 14 bar;
  • Fuel cell producing electrical energy with a power of up to 1200 W.

Central monitoring and control software performs real-time data logging, recording and analysis.

The test system is used for laboratory-scale research and analysis on the performance and efficiency of both:

  • different configurations of sources of energy production from RES under different weather conditions,
  • the combined energy storage system with batteries and hydrogen module.
